Residential complex / Pordenone

The intervention consists of two residential buildings, referable to the “palazzina” typology, within a plot determined by the merging between different properties, one of which was previously occupied by a single-family house.
The two volumes, identical at first glance, differ slightly in the extension of the main front, and are therefore linked by a geometric relationship of affinity.
The southern front is characterised by large terraces that extend the interior living spaces outside. The stepped course of the front allows the terraces to be open on two sides and, at the same time, prevents reciprocal views between the various flats.
In the elevation, the volumes are defined by the traditional tripartition of basement, middle zone and attic. The basement is made of exposed concrete, the middle section is finished in plaster, while the attic is clad in painted corrugated metal sheets.
The use of colour introduces a subtle perceptive gap between the two buildings of equal shape.
In the partial views from the street, the two buildings are each other’s backdrop, in a role exchange emphasised by the colour, alternately grey on a pink background or pink on a grey background.
