“E. Fermi” Secondary School / Torino

The starting point of the project is the existing building, its character, its spatial features and its materials.
The refurbishment project means to develop the building potentiality, currently unexpressed due to the degradation of the structures, the changing of the regulations and for some lacks of the original project.
The building in characterized by the offset between the ground floor level and the surrounding streets level. This gap generates adjacent areas on a lower level that become the new entrance level of the school. The design is focused to create a new system of connections. The demolition of the existing ramp generates an entry courtyard connected to Giacomini Square with a large staircase.
The original facade is cladded with GRC elements and polychrome ceramic panels.
